My original records had this person listed as being born in a place called CAMBRAN, in Wales. However, I am not able to find any place in Wales called Cambran.
There is a place called Cwmbran, however. It's a new town, though, today forming part of the county borough of Torfaen, and lying within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It was established in 1949, to provide new employment opportunities in the south-eastern portion of the South Wales Coalfield.
And herein lies the problem: Florence May "Dolly" GOSLING was born in 1888, half a century before the town was formed. This location could still be correct for her, as she could have been born (and lived) in this region, which would eventually be formed later in her life as Cwmbran.
Also, Cwmbran (the name of this town in question), is pronounced Cumbran (with the 'a' sounding like the 'a' in 'bran'). The original source (person), when providing the location of her birthplace, could have assumed that she was born in Cambran, based on pronunciation.
For this reason, I am listing her as being born in Cwmbran.
